Comparing Chocolate Fractions

We had a mouth watering maths lesson today... with chocolate!

We worked in groups with a chocolate bar.

First, we wrote down the fraction of the chocolate that we wanted that would give us the most, without having the whole. We chose lots of different fractions: 1/2, 1/15, 1/12, 1/4 and 1/10.

We then had to split the chocolate up into 1/2, 1/4, 1/6 and 1/12 and find out which would give the most amount of chocolate.

In the end we learned that the larger the denominator the smaller the size of the fraction.
